Have you ever wanted to explore the vault of a famous museum's textile collection or converse with leading creative voices, including the extraordinary multimedia luminary Joyce Scott? This is your chance. Join fellow Textile Museum members for an insider’s day trip to Baltimore, Maryland. See Baltimore through the eyes of Scott, an internationally known artist, performer, and raconteur and experience a once-in-a-lifetime textile treat.

Begin the day with a visit to Goya Gallery, open exclusively for the group, to see Scott’s current beaded work. Continue on to lunch at the Baltimore Museum of Art’s renowned restaurant, Gertrude’s, followed by special, private access to the museum’s textile storage with BMA staff Anita Jones and Julie Geschwind to see textiles by Scott and her mother, a famous Baltimore Album Quilt, and other treasures in the collection.

The day ends with an introduction to the world of contemporary textiles with a visit to the studios of Maryland Institute College of Art professors Piper Shephard and Susie Brandt for a sneak peek at fashions being created by the talented students at MICA.

The trip departs at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 26 from Capital Memorial Church, 3150 Chesapeake St., NW, Washington D.C. (free parking is available in church lot, or walk 15 minutes from the Van Ness Metro). Registration fee includes roundtrip travel from Washington via private bus, lunch at Gertrude’s, and snacks on the journey. Fee: $150 (Textile Museum members and guests only).
